This is my Honda 1986 NS400R. It Was Registered on the 10/06/1986 at Two Wheels in Edinburgh, since then it has had 8 previous owners. Click To Hear The Sound Of My NS400 On Warm Up. It has eight previous owners and done 26'000 miles. Over the last few months I have used the bike regularly, it has proved to be reliable. The bike as a overall package is very impressive, the performance is very good, nothing much below 6000rpm & then plenty of power all the way to 9000+ rpm, there are firms that supply a expansion chamber kit & a blanking kit which dispenses with the ATAC valves, which frees up a extra 15 BHP and more importantly 1500 RPM, I will be keeping the bike in standard trim though. The handling is very good, the frame can easily able to cope with the power that the engine puts out, the brakes also are well up to the job, the bike is also very comfy, with plenty of room to move around (at least for a shorty like me). One thing to think about if your buying this bike as your only means of transport is the fuel economy, not too good, 30 to 35 mpg ,added to that fully synthetic two stroke oil £10 per Ltr, not a cheap bike to run, ( But dam good fun!). Here are some specifications of the Honda NS400R. The engine is a liquid cooled two stroke V3 with ATAC valves on two cylinders. Displacement 387cc. Bore & Stroke 57 x 50.6mm. Compression 6.7:1. Carburetors 3 x 26mm Keihin. BHP 72 at 9500 rpm (claimed). Torque 39 lb-ft at 8500 rpm. Quarter mile 12.47 seconds at 109.29 Mph. Top speed 130 Mph.
